A flowmeter is an instrument used to measure linear, non-linear, mass or volumetric flow rate of a liquid or a gas. A vortex flow meter has a sensor that detects the frequency of vortex shedding behind an obstacle in flowing fluid by small pressure variations.

Inconel's history with vortex flow meter goes back to 1978 when first patent was awarded and first indigenous vortex flow meter was introduced in India. In 1982, the company introduced a family of commercial size flow meters, which are routinely required by chemical industries, R&D laboratories, fertilizer, cement, textile, automobile industries, etc. Today, we have several Indian, American, South African, European patents and various special flow meters developed for customers' particular needs.
