A flowmeter is an instrument used to measure linear, non-linear, mass or volumetric flow rate of a liquid or a gas. A vortex flow meter has a sensor that detects the frequency of vortex shedding behind an obstacle in flowing fluid by small pressure variations.
Inconel, an ISO 9001: 2000 company, manufactures highly reliable vortex flow meters for gases, compressed air, liquids, steam, water, solvents, biogas, diesel, roll coolant and all bulk fluids.
Inconel's history with vortex flow meter goes back to 1978 when first patent was awarded and first indigenous vortex flow meter was introduced in India. In 1982, the company introduced a family of commercial size flow meters, which are routinely required by chemical industries, R&D laboratories, fertilizer, cement, textile, automobile industries, etc. Today, we have several Indian, American, South African, European patents and various special flow meters developed for customers' particular needs.
Inconel offers total capability in the design and manufacture of vortex flow meters. Over 20 years of application and field installation experience has enabled the company to lead the way into numerous applications. Inconel has established a position in the industrial technical community as "The source of special purpose flow meters". The company's continuous R&D efforts have pioneered many noteworthy developments, such as: highly reliable, maintenance free compressed air, natural gas and biogas flow meters.
Inconel's engineering staff routinely offers application assistance to customers, and customers in turn find them interested and informed with imaginative expertise for mutual benefit.
The company has a range of flow meters for various applications. This includes:
- Flow meters for DMT
- Flow meters for high temperature, low temperature and high pressure applications, viz., coal mill duct in a cement plant, raw mill duct, lift irrigation, nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, etc
- Submersible flow meters in IP68/IP67 enclosures, and
- Insertion flow meters for large pipelines.
These flow meters are characterised by a range of special features:
- Proven high reliability: field proven design of 20+ years experience; designed to suit worst-case conditions in the field; and backed by customers' performance certificates for continuous working for more than 50,000 hrs
- Low cost of installation: no plumbing, no troublesome piping work or special wiring is required; and the flow meters are pre-calibrated at the factory and ready to begin service, immediately after
installation, no field calibration required
- Save energy - save cost: very low pressure loss, 3 times less than orifice of 0.8.beta ratio, which resu1ts.in considerable energy saving for air compressors, steam boilers and water pumps
- Zero maintenance: absolutely hands off operation for years together without routine maintenance and inspection procedures
- No wear & tear: no rotating parts, bearing or rotor blades
- Sensor: electrically and physically isolated from fluid; the sensor can be changed if need arises, without removing the flow meter body or shedder body from the pipe line
- Computer aided design: results in highly compact and rigid body which eliminates undue stresses and minimises effect of vibrations; the sensor body construction effectively rejects noise from fluid and line vibrations, resulting in excellent system with large signal to noise ratio.
The company has a wide customer base. Among the prestigious users are: automobile giants Tata and Bajaj; steel giants Jindal and Essar; pertrochemicals giants Reliance and IPCL; aluminium giants Hindalco and Nalco; pharmaceuticals giants Nicholas Piramal and Aventis; dairy giants Amul and Dynamix Schreiber; cement giants Ultratech and Aditya Birla Group; and textile giants Welspun and SIL. Besides, there are more than 400 MNCs in Inconel's referral list of satisfied customers.
