Yamaha inaugurates new plant, launches all new Fazer

After the successful introduction of Yamaha R15 and YZ-F, the company has introduced the new Fazer

Yamaha (India) has introduced an all- new Fazer motorbike in India. Add-ing to the FZ portfolio of successful bikes, which include the FZ16 and FZ-S, the new Fazer gets its DNA from the global Fazer series. Like FZ16 and FZ-S, the new Fazer flaunts monocross suspension to ensure agile running performance and handling. The placement of this model’s ‘midShip muffler’ towards the centre of the machine gives it a good concentration of mass, exhaust efficiency and handling. Fazer has the 140/60-17-inch rear radial tyre with a 60 per cent aspect ratio that contributes to better grip and handling stability. Priced at Rs 72,000, ex-showroom Delhi, the new Fazer is manufactured at the new plant set up by the company at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh. Termed as state-of-the-art manufacturing plant by Yamaha sources, the new plant is spread over an area of 36,000 sq.m and has the capacity to produce 6 lakh motorcycles annually including Fazer and other models. The plant capacity can be augmented up to 1 million units.

Speaking on the occasion, Yukimine Tsuji, CEO and Managing Director (India) of Yamaha Motor, said, “It gives us great pride to say that we have reached yet another milestone in the history of India Yamaha Motor as we inaugurate the new plant and launch Fazer. During Auto Expo 2008, we had announced our investment plans and had promised to give India the feel of high technology and real Yamaha. We are pleased to have delivered on our commitments while being sincere to our customers.” The fully integrated assembly plant at Surajpur is built on the lines of Yamaha’s globally tried, tested and successfully implemented standards and meets the global quality benchmarks. At the core are the 5-S and TPM activities that fuel its manufacturing processes. The plant has 3 vehicle assembly lines and 4 engine assembly lines including one dedicated for export engines. The engine and vehicle assembly lines are synchronised and incorporate concepts of Unit Assurance, i.e., Complete Product Assurance, Parts Assurance through 100 per cent kit supply on lines and synchronisation of parts storage, supply and production. The innovative production processes along with high tech final assurance processes are aimed to achieve Zero Claims at the dealers and thus, a highly satisfied customer base.
