Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is now the largest contributor to parent Honda Motor Company’s two-wheeler business worldwide, both in terms of production and sales. HMSI climbed to the top of the pecking order in HMC’s two-wheeler business globally with a 28 per cent share of the total global volumes in the just concluded FY17 — that’s up from 26 per cent in FY16. Top HMSI officials said the company is targeting more than 30 per cent share of HMC’s global sales this fiscal. “In terms of total units, HMSI is now the largest contributor to our parent HMC’s two-wheeler business. And we are a profitable company. All reinvestments in capacity expansion in India are with our own money — not debt, not money from HMC Japan,” said Y S Guleria, Senior VP (Sales & Marketing), HMSI.
