New Transreceiver from Texas

Texas Instruments introduced a sub-1GHz radio-frequency (RF) transceiver featuring low-power consumption, high integration and excellent RF performance, recently. The CC1101 targets low-power wireless applications in alarm and security, automatic meter reading, industrial monitoring and control, and home and building automation. The CC1101 is an improved performance, code-compatible version of TI’s successful CC1100 sub-1GHz RF transceiver.

The CC1101 provides extensive hardware support for package handling, data buffering, burst transmissions, clear channel assessment, link quality indication and wake-on radio. The main operating parameters and the 64-byte transmit/receive FIFOs can be controlled via an SPI interface. In a typical system, the CC1101 will be used with a microcontroller (MCU), such as TI’s MSP430 ultra-low-power MCUs, and a few additional passive components. Extensive digital features speed development time and reduce MCU strain, even at high data rates.
