Dr Anil Prasad Das, MD, AG Industries talks about AG Industries’ future as an expert in the plastic manufacturing, what with the company's longstanding work with making plastic components for the automotive industry. Das hopes that the Auto Expo will attract more business and connections for AG Industries, where it would be showcasing its manufacturing abilities.
Please elaborate on your company profile and offerings.
AG Group was started in April 1993 by Geeta Anand. Our expertise lies in the manufacturing of a wide range of plastic components for the automotive sector. AG Industries has state-of-the-art manufacturing units in Gurgaon, IMT Manesar, Haridwar, Halol, Dharuhera, and Chennai and Bawal ( two plants) with five imported PU paint shops. We also have more than 180 injection molding machine which are all-electric and are equipped with Robos. We supply painted plastic parts, air filter assemblies and other molded parts to Hero.
We also manufacture and supply steering wheels and other molded components to all major OEMs including , Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Eicher, Tafe, Hyundai and Ford, The current turnover of the company is Rs 1,200 crs (US $ 180 million).
We have a state of the art commercial tool room, which is capable to produce complicated molds upto 2,000 tonnage of injection molding machine and supply tools to all major OEMs and tier-1 companies.
Could you provide a brief run-down of how 2017 has been for the industry as well as your company?
The auto industry has done fairly well during 2017 despite several hiccups. AG Industries’ growth has been to the tune of more than 20 per cent in this year.
What are your plans for the Auto Expo Components Show? What are your expectations from the expo?
We intend to show case our strength, capability and product portfolio. Attracting new customers and buyers will allow us to obtain new business.
For the Auto Expo 2018 Components Show we will be launching our tool room manufacturing capabilities.
What is your outlook for your company in 2018?
We have recently taken over steering wheel production. Now our focus is to make it profitable by investing in new machinery and technology. On other fronts we have joined hands with a Taiwanese company for the designing and development of air filters for auto OEMs. In toolings, we have a tie up with Jukou Taiwan and Ikegami Japan for tool design and exchange of manufacturing best practices. We also have signed an MOU with Novo Plastics Canada for design and manufacturing of resonators and other under-bonnet parts.
