Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, and the 2nd largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, has showcased its range of fully built logistics vehicles.
Ashok Leyland has showcased its range of fully built logistics vehicles at a function in New Delhi. Present at the occasion, Anuj Kathuria, President – Global Trucks, Ashok Leyland, said, “The logistics sector in India is witnessing a trajectory of growth and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16 per cent. While the inflow on new investments will create new opportunities in this sector, the ‘Make in India’ campaign will see these investments connect India to global markets. The scope for improvement of efficiencies is huge as India spends around 14 per cent of its GDP on logistics and transportation compared to 8 per cent in other developing countries.
“With a renewed push from the government for infrastructure and integrated, multimodal logistics and transport policy, we expect a lot of improvements in this sector. Estimates of this sector are projected to be worth $370 billion by the year 2020. Trucks are the most popular mode, 65 per cent of freight in India, translating into a big opportunity for manufacturers like us to contribute to the positive change in making our country’s logistics sector globally competitive.”
“The truck segment in the logistics sector, where we have around 45 per cent market share, is expected to grow at 10 per cent y-o-y. We want to further strengthen our position through our vehicles, offering the latest in technology, which help our customers earn better margins and superior efficiencies. Developed on our brand philosophy, ‘Aapki Jeet, Hamari Jeet’, our ready-to-use, fully built, customisable vehicles are developed specifically for the Indian market and conditions. Our target consumers include ecommerce companies, automobile companies, organised logistics players and vendors of all such companies who are consistently moving across the length and breadth of our country to deliver to their customers.”
Ashok Leyland has been at the forefront of technology and innovation when it comes to vehicular needs of the logistics sector. It provides a single-window, one-stop solution for customers who get CMVR-compliant vehicles which eliminate the time spent in getting permissions from an RTO.
Ashok Leyland vehicles are also equipped with the best in safety and technology. The latest in offering and developed in-house, the ‘i-Alert’ technology, constantly monitors the health of the vehicle. Parameters include temperature of the engine, oil levels, air pressure levels and other critical functions which, if not monitored, may result in unplanned down-time.
