Country's largest carmaker by volume Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has enhanced its popularity among Indian passenger vehicle buyers in the months of December 2016. According to data released by SIAM, last month the maker of country's largest selling car Alto had seven models in the top 10 selling passenger vehicles compared to 5 models featuring in the list in the same month a year, capturing two more space in the elite list.
Despite an increasing inclination towards utility vehicles, the list could accommodate only one utility vehicle which was Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in December 2016, even last year in the same month only one UV could make a space in the list was Mahindra Bolero. Hyundai Creta and Toyota Innova has been an occasional visitor in the list, however now it looks highly unlikely for them to debut this elite list.
Of over a dozen passenger vehicle makers in India, only three of them were able to have their products in the country's top 10 selling passenger vehicles last month. Out of the three car makers, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are the two companies which have always dominated the top selling models list. While Renault is the only company in the country which has been able to make it to the list despite having a low market share of about five percent in the country.
