Dassault Systèmes’ Catia PLM Express for Indian SMBs

Dassault Systèmes has announced the availability in India of Catia PLM Express for companies of all sizes. A scalable solution, which provides Catia design excellence at an affordable price, Catia PLM Express includes flexible solutions tailored to meet existing and future customers’ day-to-day business needs.

Speaking to a select group of media at Pune, Suman Bose, country director, Dassault Systèmes, India, said, “We have to be cost effective. So, what we are launching today involves our expertise so that small companies can be successful. We feel the opportunity in India is huge. And this is an opportunity for us to grow multiple times”.

Stressing the fact that the company has put in place an India centric strategy for India, Bose, explained, “Online, customers can rapidly and easily define the solution which matches their business needs and request a quotation. Customers speed implementation, reduce time to deployment and improve return on investment - critical for SMBs irrespective of industry.”

Coming from a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, with Catia PLM Express, new and existing customers have a single entry point that evolves with their needs and job requirements.

Dassault Systèmes, according to Bose, spent US$ 1.2 billion on R&D, which is more than the combined investment by its competitors. “Matrix 1 is a leading brand. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus and Toyota. Most are US$ 50-100 million plus investments. 70 per cent of the auto market runs on our solution. Our customers in India include Tata, Eicher, Ashok Leyland, M&M, Force, etc. We are receiving strong growth in segments like apparels; companies like Quick Silver, Lexotica are our customers. We spend a long time with our customers and have a strong commitment with them.”

Other than apparels, Dassault is also looking at segments like the shipbuilding industry. Delving into the solution part of the strategy, Bose stated, “Semia related architecture will be more and more popular in PLM; virtual reality solutions will also gain popularity. Multi legacy solutions are becoming popular. We just announced a project called Novia 3D Live. We plan to invest by time in middleware space. We could have solutions that collaborate PLM with non-PLM systems.”

Drawing attention towards the fact that the beauty of PLM is the amount of small (PLM) companies innovating, Bose added, “Food Products is one area where PLM is gathering speed. We have human simulation modules in Catia. We are one of the few companies having solutions on tyres, composites. We do a lot of development of I2, Enovia.”

Interestingly, Catia Team PLM is the core configuration of Catia PLM Express, giving customers the Catia modeller for product design, knowledge capture and re-use in a collaborative environment. It also delivers core collaborative PDM functionality via Enovia SmarTeam, providing optimised Catia design management and collaboration, and a solid foundation primed for PLM solution scaling. Once a solution has been defined at: http://www.3ds.com/my-Catia-plm-express, customers receive a quote and are contacted rapidly by a local sales partner. Existing customers can seamlessly move to this new offering from their existing Catia seats.

While anticipating a growth of 20-25per cent in India, Bose stated that his company would be considerably strengthening the channel partners and making sure that the educational solutions developed by the company reach out to the right audience.
