Tata Motors presented the Tata Nano Europa at
the 79th Geneva Motor Show. Intended for a future launch in select
international markets, the Nano Europa, with a
length of 3.29 metres and width of 1.58 metres, is highly compact
yet spacious inside. Structured on a slightly longer wheelbase of
2.28m, the car is highly manoeuvrable. The enhanced spaciousness
is complemented by redesigned interiors, marked by smooth curves
and a high tech feel. To meet the driving needs of its target
customers, the Tata Nano Europa will be powered by a 3-cylinder
sporty all-aluminium MPFI engine matched with a 5-speed automatic
transmission, and electric power steering. The gasoline engine
will be frugal and emit low CO2 of less than 100 gm/km.
The car also meets all safety regulations and
offers an all sheet-metal body with energy absorbing design and
use of advanced restraint systems. ABS, ESP and air bags further
enhance passenger safety. Other than the Nano Europa, the company
also displayed the Indica Vista EV with a predicted range of up to
200km and acceleration of 0-60kph in under 10 seconds. Using super
polymer lithium ion batteries, the car is expected to be produced
in the near future in association with Miljo Grenland/Innovasjon
of Norway. Tata Motors’ UK subsidiary, Tata Motors European
Technical Centre plc, has a 70 per cent stake in Miljo.
