Since the implementation of FAME in April 2015, a total of 3.61 lakh EVs were incentivised amounting to Rs 6 billion. FAME Phase II focuses on supporting the electrification of public and shared transportation.
The Parliament was informed that there is 350 functional electric vehicle charging stations in different Indian cities as of July 06, 2021. The charging stations come under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme. The count of EV charging stations is Chandigarh (48), Delhi (94), Jaipur (49), Ranchi (29), and Agra (10).
Minister of State for Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar said that since April 2015, when FAME was implemented, a total of 3.61 lakh EVs were incentivised, amounting to Rs 6 billion. Phase II of the FAME scheme focuses on supporting the electrification of public and shared transportation.
Magenta recently set up India’s largest 24*7 public EV charging station for 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers in Navi Mumbai.
As per the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles, the EV industry body, there are 1,800 charging stations in India as of March 2021 for approximately 16,200 electric cars, including the fleet segment.
