Amid slowdown blues, the industry is hopeful to see a positive growth in the coming year. Upward trend in sales in the quarter is In an SIAM observation. The industry production fell by 13.07 per cent between April and December, 2019 compared to same time in 2018.

A total of 20,736,410 vehicles were produced including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycle in April-December 2019 as against 23,853,77 0 in April-December 2018, registering a de-growth 13.07 percent over the same period last year.

 

The sale of passenger vehicles declined by 16.40 per cent between April and December 2019, over the same period last year. Within the passenger vehicles, the sales for passenger cars and cans declined by 23.59 per cent and 37.31 per cent respectively in April-December 2019 over the same period last year, while the sale of utility vehicle increased by 6.35 per cent.

 

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a decline of 21.09 per cent in April-December 2019 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) declined by 36.69 percent and light commercial vehicles declined by 11.34 per cent in April-December 2019 over the same period last year.

 

Three Wheelers sales declined by 2.70 per cent in April-December 2019 over the same period, last year. Within the three wheelers, passenger carrier sales registered a de-growth of 2.02 per cent and goods carrier declined by 5.85 per cent in April-December 2019 over April-December 2018.

 

Two wheelers sales registered a de-growth of 15.80 per cent in April-December 2019 over April-December 2018. Within the two wheelers segment, scooters, motorcycles and mopeds declined by 16.16 per cent, 15.04 per cent and 25.10 per cent respectively in April-December 2019 over April-December 2018.
