Ford Motor Company could base its next-generation SYNC in-car infotainment platform on BlackBerry's QNX. This would mark a shift away from the Microsoft platform the current generation SYNC utilises. While quality issues and high costs are said to have prompted this move, employing BlackBerry's QNX will provide flexibility and speed to the next generation of Ford's SYNC system. As expectations of buyers rise, in-car connectivity is rapidly turning into a battle ground for automobile manufacturers to tide over each other. A reason, perhaps, for automakers tying up with technology giants to develop better in-car infotainment systems. So far most of the auto world was divided between using Google's Android or Apple's iOS in the car, with Ford being the only manufacturer turning to Microsoft.
