The former Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki
India (Maruti Udyog Ltd), Jagadish Khattar, passed away due to a cardiac arrest
at the age of 78 this Monday.
It is to be noted that this remarkable leader
was associated with Maruti between the years 1993 and 2007. He had joined as a Director
of Marketing and grew to become the Managing Director. He joined the office at
a time when there was intense competition in the automotive market, with
foreign players entering the industry. Before being involved with Maruti,
Khattar had a remarkable 37-year journey in the Indian Administrative Service
as an IAS officer.
After he left office in 2007, Khattar decided
to become an entrepreneur and started his own firm named Carnation, which was
an India-wide sales and service network for cars.
