A Hyderabad-based company has built helmets
with an inbuilt air-conditioner so that the industrial workers can be given
good working conditions.
According to Kaustabh Kaundinya, Co-Founder
and CEO of Jarsh Innovation, this idea came to his mind when he along with his
co-founders went for a bike trip on hot summer days. He said that the group
faced a lot of problems due to heat issues. So, they researched about such a
product online and could find none; hence, they decided to develop a cooling
mechanism inside a helmet.
He further said that the AC helmets are
available in four different models. They work on the same principle but the
focus is on different customers within the industry. He added that the first
helmet is model E with a battery life of two hours whereas the other model
(Model S) is designed for skilled and semi-skilled technicians. Model S has an
external battery that runs for 10 hours. He informed that the third helmet is
designed for welders with air conditioning inside it. Lastly, the fourth model
is used by heavy machine users like JCB.
The helmet contains a fan in the cooling system which
sucks the air and pumps it into the cooling system, said Kumar. That the air
temperature is dropped using the cooling systems and it is sent to the helmet
using a specially designed channel called Air distribution system. It is a
four-way vent flow. One of the vents is towards the face, two towards the ears,
and at the back.
It is also seen that the company faced
difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic but since the economic activities
have restarted, the company seems to be on track now.
