Indian car major Maruti Suzuki witnessed positive growth in the 2014-15 fiscal year. It has now stated that the sales of its factory-fitted CNG cars has gone up 23 per cent. The company sold a total of 62,996 factory-fitted CNG vehicles. This represents an increase in the share of CNG vehicles in overall sales to 5.4 per cent.
The company has six models that come with factory fitted CNG. They are Alto, Alto K-10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga. Mumbai and Delhi are cities with a proper infrastructure for CNG distribution and it is in these markets that demand has been the highest. Almost 50 per cent of the orders for Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga models were accounted for by the CNG variants.
Maruti cars are powered by the Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) that works Dual-ECU (Engine Control Unit) technology.
