The technology will be introduced first in Rage+
as two different variants. The batteries 5.8 kWh, 120 Ah unit, and a 6.5 kWh,
140 Ah will take 30 minutes and 35 minutes respectively, to fully charge and
can operate in extreme temperatures of -40 °C and +65 °C, making them perfect
for Indian climatic conditions.
The batteries, to be manufactured by Log 9
Materials, will have 15,000 charge cycles and a 15+ year warranty period.
The Rage+ will have a range of 65-100 km when
fully charged. According to Akshay Singhal, founder and CEO, Log 9 Materials,
the new technology will help address the challenges of high downtime because of
charging and low reliability because of the dropping of power during discharge.
Uday Narang, Chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility,
added that they are working
on all aspects of state-of-the-art ‘Make-in-India’ electric vehicle technology. He
added that the fact that these batteries charge in 30 minutes will add a lot of
value to customers owing to its long life and reliability.
