Tata Motors launched the new Safari Storme which is based on the company's customer focused HORIZONEXT strategy. The new range starts from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The exterior does not see many changes apart from the front grille which looks like it has been borrowed from Tata-owned JLR SUVs. The headlights are projector units with PES (Poly Ellipsoid System) Rings. Inside, there is a fully integrated Infotainment System by Harman. The infotainment system is unique to the segment, featuring an LCD screen, with Bluetooth connectivity, iPod-in, USB-in and AUX-in, along with a CD and AM-FM player, offering an acoustic experience that's best-in-class, with six speakers and steering mounted controls.
Power is provided by the 2.2-litre VARICOR engine that has been tuned to deliver 148 bhp and better low end torque. Transmission of choice for the SUV is a five-speed manual gearbox with an automatic unit set to be offered soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Girish Wagh, Senior Vice President, PPPM (Program, Planning and Project Management), Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, "The new Safari Storme launched today is based on Tata Motors HORIZONEXT, having evolved for a more engaging and connected drive, boasting added masculinity, with increased power.
