Caparo Tubes India initiated its Indian operations for manufacture of tubes and tubular products with the acquisition of an over 30-year old Dewas (Madhya Pradesh) based company, Steel Tubes of India, in August 2006. They are involved as manufactures of precision steel tubes for automobile industries, general engineering and power sector. It specialises in producing ERW (electric resistance welded) and CDW (cold drawn welded) tubes with adverse D/T ratio and special grades. They company’s facilities are equipped with 4 tube mills with 85000 MT/annum capacity. They offer products from 15.88 mm OD to 101.60 mm OD and 0.80 mm to 6.35 mm thickness range. Company has 3 normalising furnaces with 5 MT/hour capacity and 2 surface treatment plants; 13 draw heads including 2 triple tube draw benches; cut to length with chamfering facility with 12 million pieces/annum capacity; induction hardening; capability to manufacture high precision boiler tubes with IBR certificate (Indian Boiler Regulation). The plant capacity was increased to 100000 MT/ per annum in 2008 and captive power generation of 2100 kVA. Their approvals and certifications include such as ISO 9001:2000; pursuing TS 16949; central boilers board, Government of India Certification of ‘Well Known Tube Maker’ under the boiler regulations, 1950.
