At the Hydrogen Wave global online forum,
Hyundai Motor Group presented its vision to promote hydrogen energy and set up
a global hydrogen society.
The group said that it plans to popularize
hydrogen by 2024 by introducing new technologies and mobility solutions. The
group also announced its plans to see electrification of all new commercial
vehicles and hence will further underscore its commitment to clean sustainable
energy. As per the plan the commercial vehicles will feature fuel cell electric
or battery electric power trains.
Euisun Chung, Chairman, Hyundai Group,
represented the Group’s plans for a new ‘wave’ of hydrogen-based products in
the form of an online presentation. The team also outlined the Group’s future
hydrogen strategy related to fuel cell systems and fuel-based solutions.
As per the plan, “Hyundai Motor Group” is going to apply hydrogen
energy in all areas of life and industry like homes, work-places and factories.
The main aim is to make hydrogen readily used for everyone, said Chairman
Chung. He also added that the group wants to offer practical solutions for the
sustainable development of humanity.
As per the Hydrogen Council, hydrogen
energy is going to account for 18% of global energy demand by 2050 and will capture
a market size of USD 2.5 trillion. With the popularization of hydrogen energy,
there will be a reduction in CO2 emission also.
