Tata Motors has
signed a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with Tata Power wherein it is going to
install and operate a 3 MWp rooftop solar project at its plant in Pune.
This solar rooftop project is going to
generate 45 lakh KWh per year which will reduce carbon emissions by 3,538
tonnes per year. According to Rajesh Khatri, Vice President, Tata Motors, after
this recent inauguration of the solar carport in Pune, this project is going to
mark a new milestone in the process of reducing the impact on the planet. The
core of the company is energy efficiency and also to reduce GHG emissions. He

Rooftops Business, Tata Power, as a part of the initiative, the team will
partner with Tata Motors and help in the transformation of the PVBU Pune Unit.
This partnership will help in reducing carbon footprints and also achieve its
net zero carbon goal. It will also provide such future-focused green energy
Tata motor is also committed to using 100%
renewable power and has taken action to achieve this goal by progressively
increasing the proportion of renewable energy. In FY21, the car plants of the
company formed 25.0% of its total power consumption. This helped in avoiding
18,672 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Looking at this progress, the
company is going to source renewable energy more rigorously so that it can meet
its aspiration to source 100% renewable energy by 2030.
