3rd iTEC India 2019 to discuss on ‘eMobility Solutions for Community’

 iTEC India 2019, the largest conference on electric mobility, is set to be held at Sheraton Grand, Whitefield, Bengaluru between December 17 and 19, 2019.

The conference is being organised by SAEIndia in collaboration with IEEE IAS. ARAI will be the knowledge partner. The three-day event with the theme ‘eMobility Solutions for Community’ will feature enlightening keynote addresses and interactive panel discussions. Ride & Drive is a distinctively a new feature being introduced to showcase advanced versions of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.

Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric & Chair, Steering Committee, iTEC India, said, “The strategic objective of iTech India 2019 is to bring together important stakeholders at the global level, to discuss the transition to electric mobility for India, while keeping affordability and shared nature of the solutions as key pegs. Perfectly aligned to this objective is our vision, and we are happy to engage on this with eminent members brought together by this forum. I am confident that this is going to be an important platform for India to be recognised as a global hub for electric mobility.”

Girish Ramaswamy, Head Engineering - Engine & Drivetrain Systems, Vitesco Technologies & Chair, Organizing Committee, iTEC India 2019, said, “iTEC India is happening in Bangalore for the first time and brings together leaders from IEEE IAS U.S., SAE International and their Indian counterparts We also have thought leaders from across the country, OEMs, startups and other stakeholders coming together to discuss transportation electrification for the community. The event comes at an important time when India is transitioning to e-mobility and conferences such as iTEC are critical to enable this movement.”

Dr Arunkumar Sampath, General Manager, Validation, Proto-Build and Global EV Technology Centre, Mahindra Electric & Member, Steering committee, iTEC India, commented, “The theme of iTEC India 2019, ‘e-Mobility Solutions for the Community’, is keeping in mind the rising India’s oil import bill and air-pollution. This conference will bring together similar minded professionals, intellectuals and policy makers to discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities in the EV industry.”

Venkataraj, Deputy Director General, SAEIndia gave a broad overview on the organisation and mentioned International events and conferences like APAC 16’, SIMCOMVEC and FISITA World Automotive Congress organized by SAEIndia for the first time in the country. He briefly touched on professional development programs and very popular college design series competitions like BAJA, SUPRA and Epicycle EFFI besides AWIM for young school going children to develop a passion and interest in STEM (Science Technical Engineering & Math) programs. He also added ITEC INDIA started in 2015 has grown in size and stature over the last 4 years and the 3rd edition currently happening in Bangalore will take the event a notch higher.

Harish Mysore, Senior Director –Operations, IEEE India, said, “iTEC India 2019 has an important role in India’s transition towards e-mobility. IEEE through its number of technical societies and standards will help to shape the EVs Industry globally. This conference will deliberate technologies and policy requirements to help accelerate India’s movement towards transportation electrification.” 

iTEC India comes at a critical time when India is planning its transition to electric mobility across the country. The event will provide a great platform for think tanks, policy experts, government bodies, OEMs, startups and thought leaders to collaborate and identify solutions to various problems facing the move.

iTEC India recently hosted a Hackathon to address the issue as well, featuring a total of 90 applicants addressing six critical problem solutions. The winning team, Praxians, from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, presented a solution for the problem statement - Making Energy Efficient EVs of the future. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a chance to present at iTEC India 2019. The runner-up team was Safety First from Mahindra Electric. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and will also be presenting their solution at iTEC India 2019.
